Bubble

Bubble is the no-code platform you choose when the product is the business, not a wrapper around a spreadsheet. It gives you three things most builders only partly deliver: a visual page designer, a real database you define yourself, and workflow logic expressive enough for a multi-role SaaS app or a marketplace. Bubble hosts and scales the result, with an ecosystem of plugins and templates around it.

Bubble AI is the newer layer on top. You describe the app, and Bubble generates a first version with a database and workflows already in place, then you keep editing visually or by prompt. The manual is careful to call this a starting point, which is accurate: the generated app gets you past the blank canvas, and the rest is still Bubble's editor.

Highlights

• A database and logic you own inside the platform. Define data types and fields, set privacy rules, and build workflows with conditions, scheduled actions, and API calls, all visually.
• AI generation with visual editing. Bubble's pitch is switching between AI prompting and visual editing in the same project. The manual describes AI-generated apps as fully functional with a built-in database and workflows.
• Native mobile from the same project (beta). Bubble's mobile builder produces native iOS and Android apps on React Native, shares the web app's data, and submits to the App Store or Google Play from Bubble, no Xcode or Android Studio required.
• Connectors and plugins. The homepage highlights integrations with services like Stripe and Google Maps, and Bubble reports thousands of plugins in its marketplace.
• Workload-based pricing. Plans include a monthly pool of workload units rather than per-user seats, which suits consumer or marketplace apps with many end users.
• Version control and branches. Paid plans add version control, custom branches, and server logs, which matters once more than one person is editing.

In a founder's workflow

Bubble is the right tool for an MVP with real product logic: subscriptions, roles, matching, approvals. Use Bubble AI for the first pass, then treat the data model as the thing to get right before you polish pages:

Build a marketplace for booking home cleaners. Customers create an
account, pick a service, choose a date, and pay with Stripe. Cleaners
apply, get approved by an admin, and manage availability. Include
reviews after each job and an admin dashboard with payouts.

After generation, open the Data tab and check privacy rules for every data type before you invite a single test user; Bubble gives you the power to expose data by accident as easily as to protect it.

Good to know

Bubble is a hosted web platform. As of September 2026, billed annually, the plans are Free ($0, 50K workload units, development version only, no live app or custom domain), Starter ($59/month, 175K units, live app, custom domain, recurring workflows, 5 native build submissions a month), Growth ($209/month, 250K units, two editors, premium version control, two-factor auth), Team ($549/month, 500K units, five editors, sub apps), and Enterprise (custom, with hosting location and dedicated support). Native mobile is included with build-submission limits per tier; the mobile builder itself is marked beta on Bubble's site.

Bubble's trade-off is depth for lock-in. Your app runs on Bubble's runtime and cannot be exported as a codebase, so a founder who expects to hand the product to engineers later should compare it with a code-generating builder such as Lovable and read Lovable vs Claude Code for the maintainability angle.
